University of Kentucky Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences Unofficial Mini-Application

Dear Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in graduate studies at UK-Earth and Environmental Sciences. An important first step towards admission to our MS or PhD program is to fill out this mini-application (no fee) and to identify a potential faculty adviser. All prospective graduate students must identify and discuss the possibility of admissions and available projects with a faculty adviser, as this individual is the person who advocates for a teaching assistantship or research assistantship support. Both regular faculty and adjunct faculty advise students in our program. We have limited funding available for new graduate students that is awarded on a competitive basis, so having a faculty advocate during the admissions process is quite critical. We do not advise making a formal application until it has been recommended by a faculty advocate.

A final note: This is NOT an official application for acceptance into graduate studies at the University of Kentucky. Rather it is simply an opportunity to get to know each other better, significantly more quickly and informally than through the formal application. The official application to grad school is still a requirement for formal acceptance into our program. Thanks for visiting, and we look forward to hearing from you.
